House Judiciary Democrats Vote To Advance Expansive Gun Control Bill The House Judiciary Committee voted this week to advance a gun control bill in the wake of a deadly shooting in Uvalde, Texas. The final vote fell along party lines, with every committee Republican voting against the legislation and every committee Democrat voting to advance it. In a statement, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said that the House would vote on the legislation next week. Though the legislation is likely to pass the lower chamber, it has little to no chance of passing in the Senate, where it would need the support of at least 10 Republicans to overcome the 60-vote filibuster threshold.
