OAKLAND — A possible explosive device found Wednesday outside the federal building on Clay Street in downtown Oakland forced the evacuations of numerous buildings and the closure of several streets, authorities said. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Bomb Squad was at the scene at 2 p.m. and was evaluating the device. The device was found about 12:36 p.m. Wednesday outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse, 1301 Clay St. Details about the device were not immediately released, but it was apparently authentic looking enough to prompt evacuations of the federal building and other buildings in a several block area near the scene, including some in City Center.
The Frank Ogawa Plaza Entrance Clay at the 12th Street BART Station was also closed but trains were still running, officials said. Clay Street and other streets in the area were shut down as well as a precaution. The evacuations and street closures were still in effect as of 2:10 p.m. https://www.eastbaytimes.com/2022/01/19/possible-explosive-device-forces-downtown-oakland-evacuations
